Classes and Workshops

Taking a class or participating in a workshop is a great hands on way to see and practice new appliqué and quilting skills and techniques. I enjoy working with quilt guilds and quilt shops to offer fun filled, informative and patient appliqué, and quilting instruction.

All of our published patterns work well for classes. Most designs require approximately 6 hours of class time, with some working best with a follow up class for piecing, borders and final instruction.

Pattern Class rates are $200.00 for up to 4 hours class time, plus mileage/travel and accommodations.

I offer several workshop selections that require a 6 hour time frame.

Dimensional Appliqué Workshop:
Learn a dozen or more dimensional flowers and variations to embellish your quilts. You create a pillow top or small wall quilt in this workshop.

Ruching Workshop:
Learn traditional and coin ruching techniques along with some variations for textured piping and trims. You create a pillow or small wall quilt in this workshop.

Selecting Quilting Designs:
Working with a completed top of your choice, learn how to select quilting designs to enhance your piecing or appliqué, how to adjust that just right motif to fit on your quilt and what methods of marking to use. for both hand and machine quilters.

Picture Frame Borders:
Big print fabrics and pieced borders are nice, but lets have some fun framing your work with a picture frame border. It is as easy as cutting out paper dolls and mitering a corner was never easier. Check out Magnolias and Dresden Diadem in the pattern gallery for examples.

Quilting Outside The Hoop:
Can't Rock and Roll? Try my method of hand quilting with out a hoop, for even stitches, maximum speed and strain free form. This method makes your project more portable, gaining additional quilting time. Comfortable hand quilting is as soothing as a purring kitten or a cuddly puppy.

Workshop fees are $400.00 plus mileage/travel and accommodations.

Programs:

Quilting, More Than a Craft. Creating Heirloom
A cup of quilt history, 2 cups of fabric styles and 2 cups pattern ideas with a teaspoon or two of color theory and sewing techniques, keeping in mind the recipient, is a recipe for successfully creating an heirloom for anyone, no matter their quilt care skills. There IS a use for double knit polyester. Trunk Show included.

Caring For Your Quilts and Fabric Stash
This is not Laundry 101. This is about enjoying your quilt and fabric collections. How to store them, how to display them and how to share them. This idea filled program will have you looking at quilts, fabric and sewing tools in a new way, and enjoying them more. Trunk Show included.

Program Fee $300.00 plus mileage/travel and accommodations.
$250.00 if booked for the same event with a class or workshop.

Program, workshop and class schedulers, I look forward to working with you to plan a quilting event suited to your venue.
