I don&#8217;t trim until I am ready to add a third piece, because I won&#8217;t know which side I will want to\u00a0match.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-176\" src=\"http:\/\/laurassagecountryquilts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_2494-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Strips and Strings\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/laurassagecountryquilts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_2494-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/laurassagecountryquilts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/IMG_2494.jpg 326w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then I add the stringy pieces to the scrappy pieces until I get &#8220;new&#8221; fabric big enough to cut my desired size block. Any trimmings 3\/4 inch or bigger go back into the mix for the next blocks. Every now and then I give myself a break from &#8220;work&#8221; sewing and do some slap happy, willy nilly anything goes, piecing.
